They look like mold spots and its in the filter where the screen is and it just looks like something I don't want my water to be running over...
Not the electronic screen, the filter screen on the BOTTOM of the filter when you take it out.

I have a brita jug with the water filter. I've had it for 5 months, but only really used it a month. I noticed there are white spots on the bottom of the filter part, is that normal or is that bacteria growing or something? I'm just wondering since its supposed to last much longer and I've only used it a month really.
The filters are suppose to be changed every 2 months even if you are not using it that much.

Yeah! No filters to treat dark spots, as you get with the Brita filter. BRITA is getting worse and the last filter is not even safe to mount the water filter. This version Dupont Universal fits my Brita pitcher very well and the water tastes great. We live in an area of the city, the water that smells of chlorine. Filtering is a must and the Dupont-filter is very good. I do not think it's slower than the black-and-bacon-emitting Brita filter, which is now history in this house!
