When CO2 is bubbled through water a small amount dissolves thus creating carbonic acid. Making the water slightly acidic. Blue litmus paper will turn red in the presence of acid. Is the way it gets removed is through partial water changes and re-installing the carbon filter?
Also how long before I can do partial water changes and put a carbon filter back in.It does NOT say on the outside of the medication.
When you use the treatment for ick it is reccomended to leave out the carbon for 24hrs. The carbon will get the tank clean again. If you have a real bad case of ick then you treat 3 days in a row and leave the carbon out for that long. Do a 25% water change a week later

yesterday i was doing a lab with a instructor and tried disyilled water and bromothymol blue. what i want to ask is why did the bromothymol blue become yellow when there was no carbon dioxide yet in tube? can somebody explain why?
Chances are there actually was some carbon dioxide already dissolved in the water, even though it was distilled. If it sits around for any length of time some CO2 will always dissolve into it. It's also possible your container was dirty...
