How did carbon dioxide, water, and nitrogen change during the first periods of Earth?
Global Warming in perspective

How did the following gases (Carbon dioxide, Water, Nitrogen) change during these times:

1. The Early Earth had no atmosphere or ocean.
2. Then volcanic gases and comets vaporizing on impact with the Earth released gases that became the atmosphere.
3. Originally, the atmosphere was hot and all water was in the form of water vapor.
4. Then, as the Earth cooled, water vapor condensed and fell as rain, covering the Earth in one big ocean until continents formed.

then there was the first ice age because earth couldnt get exposed to sun. after another million years or so when earth started to get exposed to sun because the dust and smoke and vapours cleared, the ice slowly started to melt. but during that time for the first time there was chemical reaction so hydrozen started to get separated fro oxyzen. so the oxygen was released in the atmosphere.

What is the concentration of Carbon dioxide in the water?
Braunkohle oder Windkraft

Carbon dioxide is dissolved in water with the total pressure of gas (Carbon dioxide + water vapor) over the water being 2.60 atm. The temperature is 25o C. What is the concentration of Carbon dioxide in the water?
Give your answer in g/L .
The vapor pressure of water at 25.0oC is 23.8 mm Hg.

NOTE! The Henry's Law's constant given in some of your texts for CO2 is for units of atm. The correct value for mm Hg is 4.45 × 10−5 mol/L/mm Hg This is value you should use in your calculation.

Although I spent forever in the CAPA center I'll help you out I wont do the calculations but I'll set them up for you.

1) convert 2.60 atm to mmHg
Do this by
2.80atm x 760 mmHg = answer a

2) Find the Pressure of O2 do this by taking
answer a - 23.8mmHG (given) = answer b

3) The equation for this problem is Sg = Kh x Pg

sg = answer a x 4.45 x 10^ -5 (given) = answer c

4) They ask for the units in g/l right now you have mol/l
so convert it to mol/l you should already know that equation :)

What do these two sciencetific phrases mean? Carbon dioxide +water yields sugar and Oxygen when chlorphyll and sunlight are present, and Sugar+ oxygen yields carbon dioxide +water and energy?

Photosynthesis -
a process that converts carbon dioxide into organic compounds, especially sugars, using the energy from sunlight.

What type of food do plants make from carbon dioxide, water and sunlight?

Using the items mentioned in the question , namely, Carbon dioxide, water and Sunlight ; plants make GLUCOSE.

It is a carbohydrate that is soluble in water .

It is used as an immediate energy source or converted in to starch for storage .

All other organic molecules such as lipids , proteins etc. are directly or indirectly derived from this simplest of all sugars.

Sun light is the energy source and other two are the raw material and Oxygen is the byproduct .

Are there any physical signs of carbon dioxide dissolving into water?
Salton Sea Mud Volcanoes — No. 3

Ok, so here goes:
I am designing an experiment to observe Henry's Gas Law. I've decided to place HCl and CaCO3 into a bottle. they react and produce carbon dioxide, water, and calcium chloride.
The carbon dioxide is in gas form.
i then apply a flame to the bottle, increasing the temperature, and thus the pressure, as per Gay-Lussac's Law.
At this point, Henry's Law comes into effect, increasing the solubility of the carbon dioxide, some of which dissolves back into the water.

What i want to know if i would be able to SEE any physical signs that the carbon dioxide is redissolving.

You are basically making soda (called carbonated water in the old-fashioned chemistry books). Look for the bubbles.

    - Steven Bryant, engineering professor at The University of Texas at Austin, will present new research at the ninth annual International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies that examines a storage method that could eliminate the risk of CO2 escaping via buoyancy.

The biggest risk associated with geologic carbon-dioxide sequestration is that the CO2, which is less dense than water, will escape from the storage formation through buoyancy. But Bryant, who directs the Geological CO2 Storage Research Project at The University of Texas at Austin, believes he and his team have a novel solution.

Instead of injecting the compressed CO2 directly into a deep underground formation, Bryant offers this alternative: drill wells in the deep, salt-water filled formation, pump out the salt water, dissolve the carbon dioxide into the salt water in a mixing tank at the...

Chevron Australia CO2 Liability Deal May Be Precedent | Carbon ...

    | Sourced From Bloomberg.com |

Sept. 18 (Bloomberg) — Chevron Corp., Exxon Mobil Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell Plc agreed to invest in the $37 billion Gorgon natural gas venture only after Australia’s government assumed liability for potential damages hundreds of years from now. That may set a precedent in this resource-rich nation.

The three oil companies said Sept. 14 they will proceed with the liquefied natural gas development, the continent’s biggest single investment, at Barrow Island off the northwest coast. The national and Western Australia state governments removed a key obstacle last month when they accepted “any long term liability” should carbon dioxide captured from the project escape sequestration, or storage, two kilometers underground.

“Letting taxpayers ultimately take responsibility for any problems with the CO2 sequestration is a calculated risk by the government,” said Craig Wallace, a senior associate of Lavan Legal in Perth who has advised companies on Australia’s draft climate-change legislation.
