used in these jugs could pose a health threat over the long term? The water from own my tap requires filtering and bottled water contains far too many minerals - hence the water jug filter.
Used one for about three years when we lived in an area with bad tasting water and it really helped. You need to replace the filters regularly but it was a good alternative to the expense of buying bottled water and you didn't have all those plastic bottles to dispose of.

check it out. the under the sink called the reverse osmosis filters cost $499 include install and tax comes with the carbon filter which you have to unscrew and put in new filter every six months. and the other one costs $599 with install and tax. with this one , you throw away the whole filter unlike the carbon filter one. which one is better. also there the whole house filter which comes with water softener and the under the sink filter for $2000 with tax and install. any suggestions or opinions are appreciated. thanks.
why not just get a water filter that attaches to your faucet>? they are like 25=30 bucks at walmart or target. the one I bought today was $30 and it will filter 300 gallons of water before I have to replace it.

Big push to turn from bottled water is great but what about the filters we are using (especially since the trap all those bad things like chlorine, lead, mercury, cysts, flouride etc.....) aren't we just then putting them back in the ecosystem?
The carbon inside them is biodegradable or you could use it for fuel. The plastic housing is probably recyclable only in a few places. Don't worry about the material trapped by the charcoal; the concentrations are miniscule.

I found that Brita Filter replacement cartridges and similar products are extremely expensive. Not mention if you have to pay for the water+sewage as well in your monthly utility bill.
1. Is it good for pregnant woman to drink water filtered by brita instead of buying bottled/distilled water?
2. Is brita filter cartridge contains only activated carbon, what are the white/cream particles inside?
3. Is it easy to regenerate just by boiling it, or you have to reactivate the carbon by baking or burning it?
4. Can you replace the carbon with regular activated carbon (with the same particle size)?
It depends on what you are wanting to filter out of the tap water. Do you know if your tap water contains an elevated level of lead or other heavy metal or chemicals other than the chlorine added in water treatment? If not, I suspect that most filters are very effective far beyond their recommended capacity, since that is based on the worst possible level of contamination in any water system. If you want to test this, use the filter for a while beyond the recommended replacement date, and test the water for chlorine with a swimming pool test kit. If you don't have a pool or know someone with one, call local pool maintenance companies & see what they would charge to test it for you. I am quite certain that there is no way to regenerate activated charcoal/carbon.

The truth is that TAP WATER is just fine in most communities. State laws regulate frequent samplings, inspections and reports on the content of our drinking water.
Lugging in jugs of bottled water to drink in your house is simply not necessary.
Dorm Room Odor Remover: Smokers Only! - The Garden#39;s Cure
First thing to mention is, when you are exhaling into the tube, you want to be sure not to inhale while holding your new SMOKER'S ODOR EATER to your mouth, as the chemicals in the softner sheets can make you sick and hoark pretty bad. So remember, exhale/blow your smoke into the tube, remove from face and catch your breath. Do not remove from face until done exhaling as you will reduce it's effectiveness. Dr. Funkenstein , one mod I had when I made one of the tube-fresheners was to take and place a piece of window screen (or other screen) taped around one end -or zip tied, and I stuffed about 3 fluffy sheets in there, and viola! Instant odor eater! If you don't have screen lying around, you can cover one end with masking tape and poke holes in it with a pen or nail. That will work well, but the last dryer sheet will get stuck to the tape unless you place a separate piece...
7 Different Water Bottles For Outdoors | Safe Water Bottles
Water is an absolute must when outside and active. The last couple years have seen new water bottles options on the market. Here are some things that might be helpful to know when you are trying to decide which type of water container would be the best for you on your next outing:
Nalgene BPA- Free Water Bottles- These are traditional style water bottles with some really great features. The BPA-Free plastic is non-leaching, which means that your beverage will not have that “plastic flavor” added to it. It fits into standard cup holders and mesh pockets on back packs. The size of the bottle makes it great for a trip to the gym or a short walk, but not practical for long excursions. Note: the older Lexan water bottles have been found to leach chemicals that can affect hormone levels, so make sure you get the BPA-Free bottles.
