A) the covalent bonds in organic molecules are higher energy bonds than those in water and carbon dioxide
B) electrons are being moved from atoms that have a lower affinity for electrons (such as C) to atoms with a higher affinity for electrons (such as O).
C) the oxidation of organic compounds can be used to make ATP
D) the electrons have a higher potential energy when associated with water and CO2 than they do in organic compounds
E) the covalent bond in O2 is unstable adn easily broken by electros from organic molecules
I agree that A is correct, but C seems correct to me as well. In substrate level phosphorylation, the energy of the oxidation step is conserved by the formation of a phosphoester linkage which is then used to create ATP. Also, the NADH and FADH2 produced in the oxidation steps are used to create a electrochemical gradient. The energy from the gradient is then used to create ATP.

oxygen can bond to less than 4 atoms as in water, h2o with out forming any double bonds and just have some free electron pairs but carbon does not. in co2 there are two double bonds. is there a chemical principal at work? why does carbon form double and triple bonds instead of allowing free electron pairs?
How about CO? One double bond. Two electrons left.

Of course Oxygen has a much higher electronegativity than Carbon, so it will always try to "steal electrons" harder. But the reactivity of CO is pretty high and that leads to its strong toxicity for humans and its use as a reducing agent in chemistry and metallurgy.

We are trying to improve the quality of the water we drink and shower/bathe in, specifically removing chlorine. I feel inundated with the choices. The carbon based filter people tell you that RO water is dead and bad water because ALL the minerals are removed. Then you have like ten step carbon filters which seem pretty decent, and in a normal $100 price range. RO's are usu. $200 and up. And ionic water filters are pricey, but they alkanize the water, and you can choose the water you need, acid, alkanine, etc. for cooking, drinking. One more option is whether to get a whole house filtration system? Does NYS offer free water testing or is it done by municipality?
It seems like you have done your research pretty well judging by your comments. No one can tell you what is the best, as you have to decide which is best for your situation. All systems will purify the water, it just depends on what YOU are willing to settle for.
Your comments tell me you probably know more about this subject than anyone who will answer this question.
Go with your gut, you will make the right decision.
please provide a detailed account on the reagents required, procedure for the preparation of the reagents and also the methodology for the estimation of free carbon dioxide present in the given sample of water.
pass it through limewater if it turns milky there is presence of CO2
I mean the large ones used for water dispensers in offices, hospitals health spas ect.I need some them a project im doing. Im trying to use as much recycled equipment as i can rather than add to my carbon footprint!!
Most companies will let you have items for free as long as its for the right reason or if it will benefit themselves by way of free advertising. Use Yellow pages (or yell.com) for suppliers in your locality, explain why you want them. You may have to offer something in return, eg picking them up yourself. Good luck on your green enterprise.

10 Ways to Start Going Carbon Neutral | Carbon Offsets Daily
Mark explains ten simple ways to cut fuel bills and emissions.
When you go from thinking about going carbon neutral, to actually attempting it, things can seem quite confusing at first. There seem to be hundreds of sources with suggestions and tips, but what are the actual steps we need to make? Where do we start when we want to reduce our carbon footprint?
As a friend of mine used to say, ‘Nothing in the world is complicated. It’s just lots of simple things, added together.’
So let’s break them down.
The Six Basic Areas
The areas where we use fossil fuels are:
1. Heating 6. Shopping
Each of these areas involves us using fossil fuels, either ourselves, such as switching on the gas heater, or through a company, such as switching on the lights. All of these areas contribute to our carbon emissions, so to start reducing our emissions, we need to tackle each of these six areas.

- Steven Bryant, engineering professor at The University of Texas at Austin, will present new research at the ninth annual International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies that examines a storage method that could eliminate the risk of CO2 escaping via buoyancy.
The biggest risk associated with geologic carbon-dioxide sequestration is that the CO2, which is less dense than water, will escape from the storage formation through buoyancy. But Bryant, who directs the Geological CO2 Storage Research Project at The University of Texas at Austin, believes he and his team have a novel solution.
Instead of injecting the compressed CO2 directly into a deep underground formation, Bryant offers this alternative: drill wells in the deep, salt-water filled formation, pump out the salt water, dissolve the carbon dioxide into the salt water in a mixing tank at the...
