i have a braun coffee filter which i use to remove traces of salt water from brine shrimp (which i feed my hydra with). i know already that copper or any other metallic element has a negative effect on hydra and various other metazoan creatures, and it recently came to my attention that my filter might be made of copper. for any lovers of braun coffee, do you know if the company uses copper to make their filters? note: the filter is a gloden brownish color, very resemblant of copper. thanx for any help!

I have a heated pitcher thing from Braun that boils water for teas and stuff...if I boil the water, and let it cool, then put in the fridge, does it remove the harmful bacteria and stuff that water filters are designed to remove?
It'll kill off bacteria, but that will be no use if you don't put it in a sterilised bottle as the bottle will have bacteria in it.
It will also taste different to non boiled water.

We like this coffee maker because it makes hot coffee and keeps the coffee hot while sitting in the kraft. It is simple to use and doesn’t have alot of features that you don’t need. The only problem we have is that the coffee basket will pop open on its own and doesn’t seem to be that tight of a fit when clicked into place. This is a problem when the coffee is brewing.
I searched high and low to find a Braun coffeemaker locally, to replace the Braun I have and love. Mine is about 10 years old, but has great features, such as filtered water, heat settings for brewing, heat settings for warming. In addition to the usual features of stop brewing when you take out the pot, and timers etc.. It is easy to fill, and makes really great coffee with a choice of brew strengths. The new pot I bought makes absolutely horrible coffee. The water just pours straight throught the middle of the grounds so it wastes coffee and has little flavor. If using the gold filter the coffee is full of sludge, even when I went out and bought it ground much coarser. If you use a paper filter the coffee has no flavor at all. The stainless on the ouside is good looking but makes it difficult to get the inside really clean as it doesn’t appear dishwasher safe. Overall, this pot lacked any great features and made absolutely horrible coffee. Sorry I tried so hard to get another Braun, never again.

I used to buy these filters locally for my Braun Flavor Select, but, when I moved, I could not find a source. I am so glad I've found them here because I wouldn't want to do without them.
Although the Flavor Select does come with a dummy cartridge to place where the filter belongs, it is well worth your while to use the water filters. I was going through coffee pots every couple of years because of hard water deposits in the lines - and vinegar cleanings did not help. The filters have kept my Braun brewing coffee without ever having to use vinegar or other methods of interior cleaning. While I can't say that my coffee tastes better, I can attest that these filters have lengthened the life of my brewer.
