What does it do to the tap water vs buying bottled water?
Brita faucet water filters mainly remove chlorine, while bottled water can vary. Some bottled water are municipal water with chlorine removed, which would compare to a faucet filter while other bottled water may be made using reverse osmosis which removes everything including minerals. In my opinion, it's best to use a faucet water filter rather then drink any filtered water from bottles. The plastic in bottles can leach into the water, and it's best to use a filter that does not store water in plastic.

I want to compare the PUR water filter pitcher with the Britta one. Which filters out the most contaiminents?
I checked out PUR's website and looked at their filter pitcher. It claims to filter out 2 times the contaminants than Brita so... I guess you should stick to your PUR filter pitcher.
I am on city water (not to bad but not that good)i also have hard water
would filtering my water through a pur filter designed for household use take any of the hard water elements out and even make it anything close to ro water.
i dont have the money to put into an ro filter at this time does anyone have any suggestions on how to make such a filter to atleast take some of the crap out?
pur water filters really only remove chlorine, and odors through a activated carbon filter. they do not soften the water, they do not purify or remove bacteria the way that RO or DI would do...
my dad keeps buggin me about how tap water is bad for me

The real bottled water facts...
...and who wins bottled water vs tap water debate
If you knew the bottled water facts, you wont drink bottled water. Bottled water vs tap water? What's better and why.
The raw bottled water facts will make you feel a bit foolish if you consistently pick up bottled water.
I know I am being a bit provocative but if you buy bottled water and then compare bottled water vs. tap water vs. filtered water you're going to feel like the fool who purchased the foot-long hot dog with eight inches missing in the middle.
So, just ask yourself this question. Why are you buying bottled water?
Here are your potential answers:
1) It's safer and better for you than kitchen water
When comparing bottled water vs. tap water, well, that's just one of the myths taken as factually correct about bottled water.
Here's what the U.S. FDA in the US stated about the safety of bottled water:
Companies that market bottled water as being safer than sink water are fooling the American public.
In point of fact, , there are no government regulations for bottled water that require it be safer than tap water. Governmental standards for tap water are in place and ordinarily assure a degree of quality in the available tap water.
So, when trying to decide upon getting bottled water vs. tap water, choosing the former may be the best choice.

All filters are mad differently so it depends on what kind you have. If you could post the brand and model then it would be easier to answer your question. With my tetra power filters I keep it so that the water comes out a few centimeters above the water line but with my marineland filters I keep it so the water comes out just under the water line. I would look on the instruction and see what it says to do. If your not sure just keep it even with the water line.

Cuisinart SS700 Single Serve K-Cup Brewer Arrives for Review - We ...
If you received the Review Machine directly from Cuisinart USA, Please Ask them why Cuisinart does not Have SS700 on their website even though it has been currently selling now for a couple of weeks. Is Keurig.com also going to be selling this unit like they do with the Breville? I too don't understand the Rinse/Hot Water Feature. I Posted my own review in the Forums. You still need to the lift the head to initiate either the 4oz Rinse and Hot Water Mode. Only difference I see is that you can repeat the process again within a "single" minute, without re lifting the head. Big Woopie Deal. Now if you could press the Hot Water Button and get continuous stream until you release then it would be of some value. As it was implemented it is "silly" gimmick to advertise on box to differentiate from Keurig B70 Platinum and Breville. Also Ask Cuisinart why did they include a coffe scoop, but not...
