Ok I want to put a filter on my fridge icemaker line, then split it so filtered water goes into my icemaker in the freezer, then a line comes out to the countertop next to the fridge, where there's no sink. I need a splitter.. and a valve of some sort. Can I do this? What parts do I need
my fridge has a filter on it already. which means it comes out of the door already filtered. check to see if yours is the same and you won't have to do a thing. for what purpose did you want water to the counter? for a bunn cofee maker? u need to know the outside diameter of your line. then u need a "T" fitting to splice it together.and a shut off valve of the correct size. then you need an inline filter, hopefully with the same diameter line. if not, then u need an adapter. and you need enough copper tubing of the right size to run from the fridge line to where the coffee pot will be. good luck. might be a good idea to have a back up plan when u go to do this in case something goes wrong. or a go to person if u start breaking stuff :( been there. also start it early in the day so if you run into hassles the hardware store is still open :)

Until recently, I have had a countertop water filter/cooler that does not need to connect to a water faucet. It was perfect; however, it broke and now I'm looking for something similar to this but cannot seem to find one aywhere =( Any suggestions would be very much appreciated
Also, I forgot to mention my previous water filter has been discontinued and therefore, finding an exact replacement is impossible

If you know the name of the maker of the filter, just use either Yahoo search or Google search to find the company's website. They should be able to help. Just be sure to have the unit's model number (if possible) handy.
Good luck.

Can anyone share a detailed experience (good or bad) with a water filter—countertop, wholehouse, undersink, portable, or hiking water filters? Which filter brand do you like and why?
I have wholehouse unit (Whirlpool). I am amazed at the sediment etc that it traps. I put it in a new house with municipal water about a year ago. I change the filter every 6 months, with no effects on water pressure etc. It does get visibly dirty, so I am happy I installed it. Very easy to install as well.
I bought a paragon 10,000 gallon water filter from Sears for $60.00 and the part that screws into the faucet sprays water. The unit came with 3 different rubber washers, and I tried each of them, and it still sprays water. This particular water filter screws into the faucet, and the water base sits on the countertop, and is good for a whopping 10,000 gallons which is cool, but I can't seem to stop the darn water from spraying out where it screws the water diverter into the faucet! I am hoping that someone out there who has had a similar problem knows how to fix it, or is a plumber or understands how to correct this problem. Thanks and I look forward to reading your answers. Thanks!
i would use Teflon tape , rap it twice , o n the thread,
then apply the washer , make sure you screw it slowly ,and straight

The Convenience Of a Countertop Water Filter
If you cook often or simply drink plenty of water each day (as you should), then it is hard to ignore the convenience of having a countertop water filter . With clean, filtered water at your fingertips, you are more likely to remember to drink or use it, there is no need to open the refrigerator multiple times a day (wasting energy), and there is not the hassle of constantly buying replacement filters for filtering pitchers.
A sink water filter easily fits near the kitchen faucet, which is typically connected to through a small hose. With a variety of styles to choose from (chrome to glass or plastic), they are are very inexpensive models that cost around $50, to higher-end styles that are still an affordable option, whether they are $200 or $300. When you consider the cost of bottled water, the cost savings will soon add up, plus there is no lugging cases of water home from the grocery store, and you are not contributing to overflowing landfills. Overall, a countertop water filter is a convenient option no matter how you look at it.
