I Just bought my pool and fill it up it took 5 hours and I don't want to re-filled it and waste water. This is actually my first big pool and I have no clue of how to keep it clean and fresh. I am living in a hot weather area where it gets about 115 F degrees. Any tips or advice will be very helpful.
convert it to a salt water pool its cheaper no other chemicals needed, it will stay clean and clear

Is there any way, other than replacing the liner, to remove algea stains from the bottom of an above ground pool? The water is clean and the pool is free of algea, yet the liner has been stained from previous exposure to algea.
Have you tried algecide. It comes in gallon jugs. If that doesn't work get that scrub brush out.
There is mud and grass in the pool and we are having problems getting it out.
My pool was green and I went to a swimming pool store and I they told me to put acid, to shock it, and put in some stuff to kill the green in the pool. I did all of this and my pool has no green anymore but the water is not clear. I cannot see the bottom of the pool. What do I have to do to get it clear?
The water is cloudy blue.
Cloudy swimming pool water can result from one of several factors:
the pH is too high;
the total alkalinity level is too high;
the stabiliser level is too high;
the chlorine level is too low;
the calcium hardness level is too high;
the level of total dissolved solids is too high;
there are high levels of metals (discoloured pool water);
there is a lot of pool algae growth;
the filter needs cleaning or servicing;
there is a large quantity of microscopic particles in the pool water.
Use a test kit to see what chemicals you need to put into your pool.
we have a 18X4' foot pool. I am curious to know what to do to keep it clean. I put chlorine in pool, and it never showed up on the test strip.(maybe I didn't add enough???) Followed directions, but didn't work.
I just want to know the easiest cheapest way to keep from having to change the water out every week.
I also had the algae in it also.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
did you add conditioner?...without conditioner,the sun can burn chlorine out of a pool in hours...I would say a sand filter with a good media (Not silica sand) and a pump running 12 hours at night on a low speed(if you have a 2 speed pump) combined with a chlorine generator would be cheapest way to keep water clean...the chlorine generator has a high initial investment,but after that salt is cheap.heres is a webpage with chlorine generators and a few above ground pool units about halfway down the page: http://www.swimming-pool-information.com /pool-chlorine-generators.html and heres a page with links to various sand filter medias: http://www.swimming-pool-information.com /sand-swimming-pool-filters.html

There are such a lot of filtering products on the market these days that it can be tough to find the proper one for your pool. There are dissimilar strategies used to filter the water. The term biological filtration refers back to the system which uses bacteria to remove biological waste products from your pool. Mechanical filtration is the removal of bigger debris from the pool water. Chemical toxins are removed from the water using chemical filtration .
It is nice to know the way in which the different systems work when you go buying a pool filter. A filter system that only cleans your pool using one of the strategies mentioned above may not do everything you want. There are multiple different styles of filtration system that you can purchase. The Nexus filtration system mechanically and biologically clean the water in your pool. They use either gravity or a pump to move water through the filters diverse chambers.
Water is first put thru a mechanical filter, then put through the biological filter, and then it is pumped back into the pond. With a vortex filter the water is rotated through a conical shape to remove solid matter. This is mechanical pool filtration. The amount of mechanical filters that are needed will rely on the size of the pool.
...Creative Water Solutions: Cleaning Your Pool Naturally, With Moss ...
Few people enjoy the eye-stinging sensation of a pool cleaned with chlorine. And really, it doesn't feel too good knowing that you're swimming in a giant chemical-filled tub, anyway. Enter Creative Water Solutions , a start-up that has developed a moss-based pool treatment system.
According to the company, sphagnum moss stops the formation of biofilm, or bacterial colonies in pools. While chlorine kills free-floating bacteria, biofilm absorb it and increasing amounts of chemicals are needed to maintain the pool, creating what CWS deems an "unmanageable and uncomfortable chemical soup". Since moss attacks the biofilm directly, fewer chemicals like chlorine and cyanuric acid (a chemical used to stabilize chlorine) are needed to keep the pool clean.
There's plenty of sphagnum moss available for the taking--it's one of the reasons that Minnesota's many lakes are so clear and pristine. At the moment, CWS imports moss from New Zealand since the country harvests it commercially to germinate orchids. If moss-based pool treatments take off, though, it's likely that companies a bit closer to CWS' home base will get in on the harvesting action.
