Freije Easy Water softener systems - as good as salt systems?

I'm looking into a Freije Easy Water softener system... it doesn't use salt and there's no plumbing necessary... basically just plug it in and no more waterspots or build up. Does anyone have experience with it?

That electronic thingy with the wires you wrap around the pipe, they usually don't work except to make wallets lighter. They are not a water softener because they don't remove or reduce water hardness. They are supposed to prevent hardness scale from forming and to remove it from wherever it has formed in the system. They may or may not do that but those few that do anything, make a whitish powdery residue all over surfaces wherever the water evaporates.

Electric salt-free water softener systems?

I've seen the ad's for these electric water softener systems, that just wrap wires around the plumbing, and that is supposed to do the same as "normal" water softener systems. Has anyone tried these electric systems, and do the work? Thanks!

Haven't tried them but have read tons of literature on them - they're a scam - they don't work. Think about it, if it was that easy why would anybody use the big ion exchange salt filled things that are such a pain to maintain.

Which brand of water softener system do you recommend?

I am in the market for purchasing a water softener system. All we have information about so far is a kinetico system. Any advice about this or other recommended systems to consider would be great!

We have a water softener from Sears, which has served us well. An advantage when you buy from Sears is that repair parts are readily available.

Would an inline water softener system prevent hard water sediment buildup in my hot water heater?

I live in an area with very hard water, and have had to replace two water heaters in 6 years due to sediment buildup. If I were to put in a whole-house water softening system, would that solve / reduce the hot water heater sediment problem? (That would not be the only reason for installing the water softener.) Thanks.

A water softener extends the life a just about all fixtures; water heater, faucets, shower heads, sprayers. And they keep nasty stains from forming on shower walls, tubs and sinks. Drain the tank and flush it every few weeks. This will also extend the life of your tank

top ten water softener systems?

Sorry...I can't give you ten. I can only give you the name of the unit I have in my house. It's made by a company called Ionics..might actually be General Ionics. It uses potassium so your water doesn't taste like salt and it doesn't rot your plumbing. But man is it expensive. I was very naive when I bought my system so I probably paid way too much. If you're looking for a system you should just open up the phone book and call all the water system companies you see listed. They will all come out to your house, evaluate your water on site and then make a recommendation as to which system you need. Make sure you get many opinions and then decide which is best for you. If your water is really hard don't bother with the units you can get at Sears or Lowes. They don't work well and won't last long.

Good luck....

I need help to learn how to program the above water softener unit.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer: We are not familiar with thiswater softener brand, but in trying to interpret the model number, it might use a Fleck 9100 Econominder, SE or SXT control, in 30,000 grain (1 ft3 per tank) capacity.  Instructions for programming this unit are available on our site at https://www.caitechnologies.com/water-softeners/equipment-installation.htm - hope this helps!
