2006 Fleetwood Niagara Pop up camper Gray water tank?

I just bought a 2006 Fleetwood Niagara Pop-up camper. I use the faucet inside and after about 1 gallon of use, all the water backs up into my shower. I can drain it just fine, but the manual says I should have a 20 gallon gray water storage tank...confused! I dont see it anywhere, and I dont know how to make sure mine is working. Please help

You definitely have a problem somewhere. The
'gray water' tank is usually underneath the floor
of the camper, as is the 'black water' tank. In
some of the newer campers, there is only one
tank, though. Manufacturers found this cheaper,
and easier to do the plumbing. Since some laws
require even gray water to be dumped in only
sewage dumps, the companies get by with this.

The problem you may have is that the lines
from your sink, etc, have become plugged due
to (usually) things run through the kitchen sink.
Also, IF there is a separate tank, it has probably
never been cleaned with chemicals to keep it
fresh, and open. You might be draining it ok,
but only because the waste water drains into
the tank slowly due to a partial blockage. If
this is the case, it will soon stop altogether.

The first thing I would try is to get chemicals
that will clean the tank, and any sludge. You
might have to do this a couple of times, giving
enough time to actually do the job with each
treatment. Pour in the chemical, then fill the
tank as much as possible. Take your time on
this. Flush it all out after a couple of hours of
treatment, then do it again.

If this clears the problem, you will just have to
remember to do this often. If it does not clear
the problem, you have a bunch of work to do.

If you have to go through the tank, and plumbing
to find the problem, you will have to get underneath
the camper, and remove the bottom covering to
get at things. Many who have had to do this will
also find other problems with the tanks, the plumbing,
or even the flooring underneath. All that is found must
be corrected.

At times you may have to completely remove a tank,
or the plumbing and to redo it all. Either way it is not
the most pleasurable, or easy of a task.

These problems will always happen to any holding
tank, but more often to the gray water lines, and tanks.

One last thing. Some companies did not install the
gray water tank, but instead expect a customer to
install one themselves. Maybe the previous owner
did not do this, and just put in the wrong size plumbing
to route into the black water tank, and maybe even
put it in the wrong place. You should be able to tell
if any such thing, or other work has been done to
the camper when you look at the panels underneath.
If they have been disturbed, or replaced you will see
that.

Aerator and a Protein Skimmer for a livewell?

I am doing some research for an "at home livewell" I am trying to build for my bait fish.

The main question is, if I use a protein skimmer for my livewell, would I also need to install a separate aerator to keep my fish alive? Or will the Aeration in the Protein Skimmer keep the water well oxygenated?

My marine(saltwater) livewell will be holding finger mullet and menhaden.
The livewell will be placed in the shade outside in central florida. I do not intend on spending much money on this project, so a chiller will not be used. However, I will consider installing a heater in the colder months.

I plan on using a 20 gallon storage bin with sand bottom to breakdown bacteria, a pump for water circulation, Protein skimmer, and an aerator (if necessary)

Do I need a seperate aerator?
How many fish do you think 20 gallon tanks will hold sufficiently?

Thanks
This livewell is for SALTWATER

LIVE SAND will produce my beneficial bacteria.

Please read my question carefully.

A protein skimmer will do little good in a freshwater set up. You need to focus on producing beneficial bacteria to keep your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate in check. A large sponge filter attached to the intake of the pump will produce plenty of bacteria, assuming you cycle the holding bin. How many fish you can keep depends on how often you change the water, how much food you feed them, the flow of the pump and the size of the biological load on the bacteria available.

Is this a Good Deal on Bluebird Bus Conversion to an RV (motorhome)?

I am looking to buy a 1979 Bluebird flat nosed Bus Conversion. Let me give you some details about the bus, Ill copy and paste from the Gentleman's add....1979 Bluebird bus completely converted to nice motor home. 5 year old 427 Chevrolet gas engine (completely rebuilt) 4000 watt two year old gas generator, 2 year old easy hook up tow hitch, 30 or 50 amp. electric, two roof top air conditioners (one runs on 30 amp and both run on 50 amp.) Satellite dish system, Long heavy duty electrical cord included, 20 inch TV installed in cupboard above driver's/passenger's seats, driver's seat and passenger's bucket seats like new. propane two burner stove with grill and small oven, wall mounted propane heater, quick recovery hot water heater, 30 gallon fresh water tank, large holding tank with fittings and hose for emptying tank (storage for hose on side of motor home) 10 cubic ft. refrigerator with freezer, private bathroom with sink and flush commode and lots of storage, private bedroom with queen size bed, with lots of storage, livingroom storage benches convert to full size bed (includes full size easy inflate air mattress), large microwave oven, lots of counter space and deep cupboards and drawers, kitchen table leaf extends table to seat four people comfortably (includes four folding chairs in excellent condition), privacy roll down thermal backed shades for front of motor home, motor home shades on other windows, Large easy set-up attachable awning..... Ok so there is the add. i went to look at it and it does look like it is in really great shape, and truly if i didnt see the outside i would never know that I wasnt in an expensive motor home...the inside was very well done. Apparently it was a campaign bus for one of the state senators at some point and time...anyhow they are asking 8000 and it had just come down from 10k a few weeks ago. The gentleman has lost a leg and is elderly I think is just looking to get rid of it and not really make anything on it...Is this a fair priced or am I out of whack?
really im not sure if it has separate tanks for black and gray water but everything else seems to be done properly so im guessing yes, thats a question i need to ask. I cant imagine it would be all that much more to have an additional tank put in. All he showed me with the sewer was how it hooked up
I just looked at a diagram on the plumbing. Only has one dump valve so definately no grey water tank. However there is no shower, so maybe the impact isnt all that great.

Doesn't sound too bad for $8,000. The 30 gallon fresh water tank won't take you far if you're dry camping somewhere though. It doesn't say if it has separate holding tanks for grey and black water. That would be a concern.

Please help me I'm really stuck can someone show me how to work these out?

You should ask your teacher to show you. He or she will be happy to sit down with you if you come before class, or stay a little later to get extra help.

A teacher will always be more impressed with the fact that you came for extra help with something you didn't understand, than if you show up with right answers all the time.

Can someone tell me how to work out these problems. Not looking for answers!?

Solar Hot Water | GreenBuildingAdvisor.com

If you’re aiming to reduce your carbon footprint, you’ve probably thought about installing a solar hot water system. Here’s the good news: if you have an unshaded south-facing roof, you can install a solar hot water system that will meet about half your annual hot water needs.

The bad news: the typical solar hot water system costs between $6,000 and $10,000.

ICS, Drainback, or Antifreeze? There are three main types of solar hot water systems (also known as solar thermal systems): Integrated collector-storage systems; Drainback systems; and Antifreeze systems.

Integrated collector-storage (ICS) systems, also known as “batch” systems, store hot water in a roof-mounted tank above the collector. Such systems are common in Israel, Hawaii, and other warm climates where freeze damage is unlikely.

Those of us who live in frosty climates need a freeze-resistant system. To protect against freeze damage, a solar hot water system either drains all the fluid from the collector when it’s cold — the drainback approach — or circulates an antifreeze solution through the collectors.

Solar Batch Heaters 101 | Solar Feeds News and Commentary Blog Network

For a hundred years, simple solar batch heaters have been used in the United States. The term ICS (integrated collector storage) tells us that the collector and storage tank are combined into one unit. A tank of water, enclosed in an insulated box covered with glass, is placed in the sun facing south. Cold water is piped to the bottom of the tank; hot water is taken off the top. Whenever there´s a call for hot water, water pressure from the home moves hot water from the top of the solar batch heater as cold water is pushed into the bottom.

Since the potable water is heated directly, this is an open-loop system. And since no pump is used to move the water from collector to end use, it is passive. The batch heater is a popular choice for homes in moderate climates where freezing is not much of an issue. Commercially manufactured batch heaters are relatively low cost. Crude batch heaters can even be homemade. If batch heaters are installed on the roof, weight has to be taken into account. Commercial batch heaters can weigh 200 pounds (90 kg) dry, and when filled with 40 gallons (150 l) of water, more than 320 pounds (145 kg) is added.
